Blackbird Island is located in the Lake of the Woods between Flag
and Oak Island (red dot balloon). The GPS coordinates of the dock are
49º19.159', 94º52.250'

The closest boat launch is at Young's Bay Resort (directions) in Minnesota's Northwest Angle. The Northwest Angle is an enclave, which means it is not possible to reach the Northwest Angle by road without traveling through Canada. The nearest border crossings are near Roseau (Google Maps) and Warroad (Google Maps). |

It is possible to avoid crossing into Canada by boating across the Lake of the Woods from
the south end of the lake. However, we do not recommend it unless you have experience boating on
large bodies of water and have 20+ foot boat. Even then, if you have not crossed the Lake of the
Woods before, we suggest you may want to arrange to follow one of the large boats of the
Lake of the Woods Passenger Service.
